It would depend on the coral. Some corals are extremely hardy. A picture would be good.

it would have to be extremely hardy it went through the winter and summer with no power to the tank close to a third of the water had evaporated out

I had cabbage leathers in a tank with NO lighting that was neglected for over a year. Pumps still ran for circulation and I still topped off evaporated water. But the Nitrates went through the roof and the algae was very happy...couldn't even see in the tank anymore except for looking down into the top. Those leathers actually thrived. I still have cuttings from those leathers after I got my act together and performed serious upgrades and maintenance. I think those leathers are some of the hardieast I have ever seen.

I have a frogspawn frag in my tank now that survived about 10 days at 55 degrees with no light and no circulation in my sump after my previous tank broke. It wasn't until I started to clean things up in preparation for a new tank that I realized it was there.

Not reef related, but over 15 years ago I let me 55 gal tank with a brittle star, snowflake eel and condylactis anemone go without light and water changes for nearly a year. The water level dropped to 1/3 full and the pump shut down. Also the heater no longer entended into the water and stopped working. When the swamp smell reached out of my bedroom, my mother made me clean it up. I thought it would be easier to clean, refill and get it going again than breaking it down. While cleaning I found all 3 still alive. Everything survived for another 9 months or so and the anemone got sucked thorugh the cannister filter stainer and was cut into 3, 2 of which survived. Almost seems like simpler is better and hardy inhabitants can be REAL hardy.
