adding sand??
I made the mistake of using crushed coral in my reef. My tank has been going for almost 2 years now. I want to do sand badly. How do I go about changing this out with out huge spikes in water quality? Also I'm having probems growing coraline alge. I use Purple Up, and do frequent water changes I wouldnt think it would be my long spined urchin but I've heard they eat it. Please if you have any advice I would be very happy to hear from you. Thank You!!!!!

It is a project but it can be done. What type of inhabitants are in the tank, what type of filtration are you using and what type of lighting is over the tank?
To ensure coraline growth you will need to check your calcium and alkalinty levels. I would suggest Salfert Kits as they are pretty reliable. Calcium should be about 400ppm and alk about 9DKH.....

All my fish are hardy. (tank has been moved) Do I just take everything out, put the sand in and that's it? I don't want to put my tank into a cycle or shock it. What's the best sand the whitest possible. (look'in to get into some sand sifters)
