So, recently i bought a "mimic octopus" from the LFS. I have been reefkeeping for about 3 years. I have always liked this site for info. on corals and whatnot so i decided to ask if anyone had any advice. Currently i have a vinyl mesh screen over the top along with a plexyglass lid. it has some books on it along with my light. The vents from the pump are also covered in mesh. I have had him or her for maybe a week. It seems to be doing outstanding but this is my first octo. So my point is hopefully someone else has had one and can share anything they think is usefull. thanks.

Couple things i can tell you are.. My buddy has one and it has eaten everything in his tank and it likes shrimp.. alot. When he first got it, it went for the smaller fish first and shrimp.

He feeds it feeder shrimp and small fish. Also they have a personality.. so it seems anyway. when the lights are off and the TV is on, He or she comes out and will sit in the corner or the tank and watch tv.

His tank is a 100 gal. and it seems to do well in that size tank.

They live for 12 to 18 months -- MAX. They will get out if they can. Make sure your tank is COVERED. They will eat anything in the system, as magglite has already noted.
