Reduce dKh?
My dkh is 13.4 - does it need to come down? If so, how?
my ph is 8.0. Ca is 420. I use a calcium reactor in my 125g tank and preform a 10 gal water change each week with RO water. |

Is this a chronic thing or did this just crop up?-
It's a little high. Calfo recommends a dKH around 7-12 (Book of Coral Propagation). That being said, it probably won't affect anything. If you really wanted to lower it fast (probably not the best idea) you could run an air pump and airstone and the extra carbon dioxide will lower your dKH. Anything that depletes buffer (think low pH items) will lower your dKH- you could toss some extra food in for a couple of days, or up the bioload... Anyone else have some ideas?

Thanks for the ideas. It's a new problem since adding my Ca reactor. My ph seems fine, it's just the dkh. Will lowering the dkh also lower my ph?
The water coming out of my Ca reator is ph 6.8. shawn |
