My first picture....Please help
Here is the first picture of my 60 day old reef tank. I know its not the greatest but I think in time my corals will grow. They are only a couple of weeks new to my tank
So any comments or suggestions about how to shoot better pictures of the tank would be appreciated. I am an underwater photographer and have thousands of beautiful shots but this is just not the same. Please help. One note I made to myself after posting this was that I probably should of cleaned the front of the tank before shooting . ![]() ![]() |

Hi there,
First off, I think you may get better advice if you post your questions in the Photo Lab Forum, but, in my humble opinion your images simply lack correct white balance. I'm not sure which camera you use but it could be adjusted either in camera or in the post processing, most photo editing software have that option nowadays. Here's my version of one of your images after quick pass through PS CS2's curves adjustment and color balance correcting. However, it is best if custom white balance is selected in camera and white or grey card is used to set it. Another option is to use RAW format(if your camera is able to shoot RAW) and then adjust the WB in RAW processing.

dabosinoc(you know who you are) love that feather star. Those things are so beautiful. There are two at my LFS but they want $99 for em and they aren't doing that great. I have heard they are tuff to take care of. Nice though. |

I have just physically gotten into the hobby about 2 months ago after reading about it and diving the ocean in various parts of the world for over two years. I can't be away from it so I brought it to my living room. I would love to post some of my underwater shots I just brought back from Fiji in July. Where would I do that? In the photo section? Here is a small slide show I made that I love! I took this on a dive called Black Magic Mountain in Fiji! http://www.slide.com/msview?cid=72057594038753077
