Percs pairing off already?
Is it possible that my Percs have already decided who is the male/female? i notice them rubbing up against each other, and when scared/at night they hide in a little cave, it looks adorable!
I am going to order a nice little coral package, once I get rid of the algae problem, hopefully they will pick one as their home! ![]() Mark |

It's VERY possible. I have 2 Amphiprion Percula's in my 30g tank and they were the alone for maybe the first month. It's been 5 months and you can't tear them away from each other. They sleep together, swin together... everything. I can tell that my larger one has changed sexes because he's VERY aggressive now towards most of the fish in my tank... except the Yellow Tang. I also have a 10g tank that only has 2 A. Percula's in it and they've only been together for about a week. Already, the larger clown is showing aggression towards the smaller. I pay close attention to how the clowns in both tanks react to each other. If the larger clown approaches the smaller and they have a confrontation, the smaller clown will usually start shivering like it's in shock. This is a signal to the larger clown that he is being submissive. It's very funny to watch. I picked up a book by Joyce Wilkerson called Clownfishes and it taught me a great deal. It was so interesting that I read all 240 pages in 2 days.
