Aiptasia Chemicals
Hi Everyone,
Well I am lucky enough to have two different kinds of Aiptasia in my tank, from what I have seen on Joacos web site. One is brown colored with long tentacles and the other is just ugly, but it looks cool under actin lighting because it glows a flourescent green color, but these are bad so they must go. I do not want to get a shrimp and I do not have kalk. I have come across a few products like Stop Aiptasia from Chem Marin and was wondering how effective they were?? Thanks, CaptK |

Hi CaptainK
Before buying anything, you may want to try boiling water. You can sometimes inject them with boiling water to kill them as you would with kalk.

I used that stop aptasia, and it does work, to a point. After it takes affect, you still have to suck out the remaining gunk that was an aptasia, I used it in a 10g tANK and it never bothred my corals.

I have also used the Stop Aptasia twice, and succesfully I may add, with no ill effects in my reef.
But if you have not purchased it yet, I would try the boiling wtr. first. HTH

THanks Guys,
I will try the Boiling water thing first. I assume that I will be needing a needle of some type to inject the little beast. Do I need any specialy kind? Where can I get one? -Is there a proper way to inject the water? -What is to be expected after I inject the little beast? Thanks, CaptK |
