What is this?

Anyone know what this stuff is that took over my acro colony? I fragged it as you can see but theres still more on the adjoining rocks still in the tank. I'm not sure how to kill this grey stuff!

It is really hard to see anything in the pictures, do you have larger ones?

It does encrust on anything that gets in it's path! It does kinda look like a grey sponge. Don't sponges live in low light areas? This is growing in direct light and taking it out of water for a few minutes doesn't kill it! I might try kalk. paste on it to try to kill it.

That was just a wild guess. I have no idea what it could be actually, perhaps greenbean will have a guess for us.

It really does look like a sponge! I put some kalk paste on part of it last night and it seems to have killed that part of it! I'll keep trying the paste. I just can't believe that in just three weeks it took over an eight inch section of rock and my favorite coral!!
