Needing to know how an what is the best and safest way to propagate a toadstool leather. Mainly because its way to big for my tank.

You Have To Do What You Have To Do Before You Can Do What You Want To Do
You can cut it pretty well anywhere but I liked the ring cut. Cut a circle around the flat portion and its looks like a big ring. It then can be cut into as many pieces as you wish. I have done this all the way to the main stem piece.
Cuts like that need to be done outside the tank. I used a wet towel to sit the coral on or better yet, a decent sized container, with some water in it. And use a good sharp blade.
I have done leathers inside my tank but not large cuts. They do "leak" a fair bit.
