hi! thanks for always getting back to me it is realy appreciated. well 6 days after getting my cleanup crew ,my tank tested out perfect , so i did my 10% waterchange and went to my lfs to purchase some soft corals. i brought home a beautiful piece of rock with green star polyps,and one each red and green mushrooms. my question is ,on the red mushroom there is a mucus type of strand coming out of the bottom.i'm not sure if it is attached to the shroom or the bottom of the small stone it came on. being just the first day in tank ,should i wait and see what happens or take some kind of action. happy newyear everybody STUART P. There are a couple of things your "mucus type of strand" could be. The most likely candidate is acontia filaments- these can be ejected by your mushroom during rough handling. Usually, the mushrooms recover just fine. Leave it alone for now- keep us posted.
