Is my hyperactive Anemone ok?

Is my anemone ok? Its very hyperactive. It goes everywhere in my aquarium. Its not attach to any of my rocks.

Here is one of weird things it do.

Why my anemone is always swiming around? Why dont just sit in one rock and stay still? Is ist normal?

Have you tried turning off all of your flow for awhile so that you give it a chance to find a spot it likes? What type of lighting do you have?

Only direct sunlight over glassblock. I cant buy MHL. I'm a designer. My monthly salary, lets say around 2.000.000 Rupiahs(Indonesia's Currency) = +223 USD,The cheapest MHL, 11 watt (I dont know the brand) is 300.000 Rupiahs (USD 33.4). (2007-01-3: 1 USD = 8,970.0 IDR). Its 1/6 my Monthly Salary.

Anemones require a great deal of light. IMO you do not have enough to maintain an anemone for any lenth of time. If it was possible, I'd trade him in at your LFS for some credit if they will allow that. Are you feeding it anything?

IMO = in my opinion
LFS = local fish store (pet shop that sells aquarium fish)

You need to feed it at least twice a week. Try small pieces of shrimp or fish or clam, etc.

I thought your tank was outdoors? Where do the glassblocks come into the picture? Do you have a "ceiling" of glassblocks over the tank? If so, that should be OK because if they are mostly translucent, you should still get more than enough light striking the tank. From your photographs, the tank appears well lit.

You don't need any lights if your tank is getting enough natural light. I really can't say because I'm not there looking at your tank.

You're only 8 degrees south of the equator, so you're certainly getting tropical lighting from the sun. You really don't need artificial lights at all where you live as long as you can get adequate exposure to natural sunlight.

The Waikiki Aquarium in Honolulu, Hawaii has outdoor reeftanks that use natural sunlight and they're 21 degrees north of the equator.

Smile anemone

i normally turn off my pumps for a while to give the anemone time to attatch itself to a rock or in the sand depending on which specie it is.what specie of anemone is it,as previously stated could be light related or water current which is preventing it from staying in one place.derek
