Water Clarity

I am in the process of setting up a 210 gallon tank. Thus far I have filled it our with fresh water and set up the mechanical filtration. This has been running not for several weeks. I am now ready to proceed and add salt as well as sand. The only problem I have is the murkiness of my water. It seems a bit while and when I turn the light on you can see tiny white particles floating in the water. I tried using a particle cleaning solution but the water did not seem to change too much.

Advise?????

Thanks,

are you using RO water or plain tap water? I'm confussed as to why you been running just plain tank with water ( no salt, sand or live rocks ). With nothing in the tank it must be quality of water, there is nothing else in there. maybe something to do with your filtration it's hard to say.

Ken,

I am using an RO unit. I was running plain tank as I was pulled away for a few weeks due to some personal reasons.

I am running an a proclear aquatic pro 300 filter and a skimmer that came with the filter unit.

First of all, welcome. This is a great forum and I'm sure you will get lots of help and tips.
Before giving you any advice on your tank, I would have to know a little more of your details. When you say "fresh water" are you speaking of tap water or RO/DI water? What are you using for michanical filtration? I have not heard of a "particle cleaning solution" before. What is it called? You may wish to do some more research on this forum and others before going much further. You are going to have to decide what you wish to have in your tank, i.e. fish only, corals and fish, and even what type of corals. Most saltwater tanks use Live Rock for the majority of their filtration so you should do some research on that. Good luck and keep us updated.
