Re: My 60gal system build.
wozza...did you use live sand and fully cured LR? I'm just worried about your cycle process moving everything over that quick.

Re: My 60gal system build.
hi samper, yeah all my LR was from my old tank so was full cured and i used 80lbs of caribsea "live sand" and about 25gal of my old tanks water.
i wasnt that worried myself about inducing a new cycle or something because it was just like doing a massive water change....kinda .But i did test for NH3/NH4 and NO2 just incase, but i never had a trace of it .And its been up for about a month now and eveyone is better than ever!! cheers james P.S. thanks Rebecca and CSeaSee i will try to get a pic of my bright green BTA, but its "shy" and in both my tanks now has moved to a spot were he gets light but i have to look around the sides of tank to see the sod, oh well such is life!!

Re: My 60gal system build.
Great video!, really nice tank!
I was wondering about something recently and you might have the answer, I have a blue crocea clam in my tank and have been wanting to get a coral beauty but was worried it might nibble at the clam, what has been your experience with your coral beauty? does he look like he might be a problem with it or does he just ignore it?

Re: My 60gal system build.
i was also worried about the very same thing before i got my coral beauty, but it has absolutly ignored every thing in my tank so far, and i have had it for about 2-3 months now, it has been great.
just remember to QT it first as they can be quite shy. But after a QT of about 4 weeks then putting it in my tank when the lights are off, it is now as you can see in the video, quite active and not shy at all. thanks for the complement, james ![]()

I like it! I like all the open water. It's aquascaped a little like my tank.

Re: My 60gal system build.
Just a suggestion (since I think we both have the same shaped/sized tank)... think about getting a Tunze. My tank used to look just like yours with lots of those little maxijets everywhere. Don't get me wrong, maxijets are great, but you'd be surprised what one tunze can do in these tanks. It's pretty cool.

Re: My 60gal system build.
i was thinking about getting a tunze, but im pretty sure haveing all that flow from one outlet would give me a massive sand storm.
i have realy fine sand 60lbs of 0.1mm-1.2mm and 20lbs 0.5mm-2.0mm aragamax, its tricky at the moment keeping it all still. what do you think?

Re: My 60gal system build.
Hmm... I'm not sure how much finer your sand bed is than mine. I have ~4in of the fine carib sea stuff and I don't get sand storms.
The thing about the tunze is that the flow is more "bulky" (for lack of a better word). It's speard out more, so it doesn't create sand storms as much as even the maxi-jets do. And what I do with mine is, I point it at the back wall so the flow gets broken up even more. It just takes a little trial and error, but you can definitely have one positioned so it doesn't mess up your sand. Shoot... my T. Derasa clam screws up my sand bed more than the tunze does! lol

Re: My 60gal system build.
Oh, yeah, the Tunze is totally over-priced. And I don't even understand why it needs to cost that much. The parts aren't exactly complicated... and the bracket is just sad. I would think the cheaper knock-off is definitely worth a shot. If you get one, do let us know how it works out!
