Question Jeff's Clams?

All,

I got the Jeffs email sale letter and he has some interesting specials on clams:

Baby Maxima Clam only $10 ea. or 3 for $25.
2” Squamosa Clam only $15 or 3 for $40
3” Derasa Clam only $12

I have a 4 x 96w on a 55g aquarium. Which, if any of these clams might I be able to keep?

Ryan

Im not sure what you guys are asking (mark, ryan)

1. If they will live? Im sure they will live

2. If they will be happy? IMO No....they would be happy in MH's

Here is my analysis on the situation. The deresa would proly be the easiest to keep, and I would say if you are stuck on getting one that would be the one to get, however bear in mind that they get HUGE, and so do squamosa's, and from what I have heard the Maximas and Croceas are a bit harder to keep....again Im no expert on this situation but I do have 1 deresa, 1 maxima, and 1 crocea....they are very addictive but I say spend the money on the lights first

Thanks Scuba. I will avoid the clams (but they are soooooo cool) until I break down and get MH.

LMAO Ryan....I know Its so hard to pick which is my favorit animal/coral/invert etc etc. in my tank but my clams are definately int the top! They are beautiful and fascinating animals.....try to do what I did if you get tempted to go out and buy one....just shop....control the urge by comprimising that you are looking for the BEST clam....and basically no matter if you get the ugliest clam in the world (I dont think there is such a thing!) then you will think its the best one and if you are on a budget and you want a clam soon....then do like I did when I started my tank....I had 2 make 2 canopies for my tank and couldnt afford all the lighting and some corals so I got my MH for only one side of my tank and kept my first clam on that side.....when I had enough money I went and got the other MH HTH
