Like I said, I was removing some anemones today and decided to take some pictures of them. After closer examination of one of the images I think at least one of them is poised to release the sperm( all of my E.quads are males). I remember what it looked like the last time this occured and I'll be honest, I dread it...
Not sure if I am right or not but if someone is familiar with reproductive mechanisms of this species, please tell me that what I see is not the sperm packets in the tentacles. ![]()

WOW! How can you tell? I thought all your anemones multiplied by splitting, not spawning? (OK, can you tell i am not expert in anemone reproduction???
)Sounds messy... but also like you know what's coming and are ready! Rebecca |

I think those spots that you see in the tentacles are definately gamets, but will they be released or not remains to be seen. If you remember, it happened before in my tank and this is the primary reason why I'm concerned. It is generally safe if it is only sperm being released and no eggs are present, but when it is in such large quantities all bets are off. If this was females theere would be distinct danger to fishes and corals as water quality would degrade rapidly.

Re: I think I'm heading for another spawning event...
Hi Sara,
No I had not. For some strange reasons the spawning of anemones stopped after just one time. To be honest, I rather don't see it happen again because I do not have enough strength or time to deal with such event at this time. I have never seen my corals spawn as yet.
