something growing on my rock

Hello everybody. My dilema is some green hairy growth's (almost looks like seaweed) growing on a beautiful rock ,that has a large colony of zoo's,and 1 purple or blue mushroom on it .Mushroom seems to be growing right through the zoo's. right next to the mushroom and weed's there is a coral or plant of some kind that the fellow from the lfs said is a undesirable, but would do no harm(real helpful ). Would it be possible for me to pull out weeds and undesirable ??? out with a pair of tweezers , or would that not do the trick . Thanks Stuart p.s. all my parameters and tests are comming out perfect.

Generally, algae/plants compete with the coral algae for light and nutrients. It is a good idea to remove them. You need to pick off the entire plant, because leaving any part of the plant doesn't usually result in it being removed. Also, avoid segmenting (splitting up) the plant. Parts of a plant can float off and regrow elsewhere.

it sounds like green hair algae, the easiest way is pull the rock out of your tank and scrub it with a toothbrush in cooler of aquarium water (do it after a water change) shake it real good and return it. some say not to do that but like leebca said, if it floats around in your tank its worse than apstasia's.
