    Moving the tank

I’m going to move the tank soon.
During this event, I would like to add in more LR. Tonight my LR arriving, I will curing the rock before add in.
My plan is to do the moving after the LR has been curing and take out all LR from the tank, clean it before mixed with the new one in the tank.
    1st question.
Do I need to curing the LR from my tank after I clean it before I add in to the tank with new LR.
    2nd question.
Can my mandarin fish survive after all the rock been clean, most of the pods will be gone by then.
    3rd question.
How long I have to wait before I can add in all the coral in the tank after the LR been arrange.

    Good luck!

Why do you need to "clean" the live rock? Does it have nuisance algae or something? If you have to do any sort of "cleaning," try to keep it to a minimum so as to preserve as much life as possible. The copepods, etc., will be inside the various tiny holes in the live rock and could easily survive a brief period of "cleaning" as long as you don't go crazy. If all you intend to do is brush off the rock a little in some clean saltwater, then much of the stuff that is inside the rock will survive.

Do I need to curing the LR from my tank after I clean it before I add in to the tank with new LR.
That all depends on what you mean by "cleaning." You will only need to recure the live rock if you actually kill off a bunch of stuff inside the live rock.

Can my mandarin fish survive after all the rock been clean, most of the pods will be gone by then.
Does your Mandarin fish accept any commercial foods now? If he is totally dependent on the copepods, etc., from the live rock, then he will not do well if you kill off all of the pods.

How long I have to wait before I can add in all the coral in the tank after the LR been arrange.
That depends on your water parameters. Many people are able to move all of the livestock (live rock, fish, corals, etc.) from one tank to another in a single day. You should accumulate as much water as possible from the existing tank to use with newly made up saltwater for the new tank.

    Hi chefrt,

If the rock doesn't have any nuisance algae on it (hair algae, etc.) then brushing it off isn't going to change the apperance of the rock.

Are you buying your live rock in an aquarium store or do you collect it yourself? Is collecting it yourself legal in Brunei?

So far I don’t have any problem with algae, the only thing, before my LR in red color but now start to change into green color, this happen when I start to give nori to the fish

Actually I buy from someone who collected the LR, in Brunei collecting LR is illegal at a specific area, outside that area you can collect it but not for sale in LFS and for export. Any way only few people keeping SW aquarium in Brunei.
