bubbles

i was at work the other day and me and a cowork got into a discussion about if bubbles are bad or not for saltwater

bubbles themselves are not bad for saltwater. They will tend to oxygenate the water a bit more and will attract organics which can then be collected and removed from the system (this is what a protien skimmer does)

However, if you are talking microbubbles, most people consider them a nuisance since they obstruct your viewing pleasure. If you are talking sunken treasure check with an air pump type of thing, then I would say its a bit cheesy in a saltwater tank.

I run an airstone in my FOWKD (Fish Only with Kitschy Decor) - no cheesy sunken treasure in my tank, thank you very much, just Quasi Greco columns courtesy of my kids.

I like to think the airstone helps oxygenate the water, but I suspect it only serves as an e-ticket ride for the seahorse occupants.

Actually cheesy in any type of tank unless you are a little kid.
