I know this should be in the general area but I just wanted more people to see the post....NGC is having a special on how the fishermen resort to toxic means to catch fish in the ocean for peoples home aquariums....should be interesting....Also for anyone interested, the July issue of SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN has a big article on the same topic.

thanks for the info...i saw it, and all i can say is, WOW!! it's amazing to me the devastating effects of cyanide, not only to the fish, but to the reef in general. nothing but dead reef all around. it's good to see that there are people there that are making great strides to improve the situation. they also show that they are attempting to bring back dead sections of reef buy propagating frags on dead areas in the hope that it may return to its former glory. i certainly wish them luck in there endevor.

Kinda makes you want to buy only tank raised animals after seeing what the poor reefs and fish are going through. The reef looked like the surface of the moon after they got done with the cyanide

Hi All,
I saw this program last night and I was rather encouraged on a certain level. The conservationists were working with the local fisherman to eliminate the use of cyanide fishing and make this a sustainable industry, rather than trying to eliminate the industry “as a matter of principal” There also seemed to be a growing consensus among the fishermen that their future was dependent upon adopting sustainable fishing practices. Regards, Scott Passe
