I got my lifereef overflow today and I noticed that the screw that atatches to the wingnut is metal. Should I replace it with a plastic one?

YES !!!! I also have a lifereef overflow, and for some reason he DID NOT use stainless. Mine has rusted. I would suggest either plastic or stainless.

Mine has rusted too ... I bought some replacement nylon screws a while back but haven't felt like taking it apart to replace the screws yet. For me that means taking the hose off from under the unit which is a pain. One of these days I will get around to it.

I had a lifereef and after 6months the screw never rusted it was a stainless one..IMO nylon ones aren't strong enough I replaced the nylon on my current overflow with a stainless one..
I honestly don't see how the small amount of metal can harm anythign it doesn't some in contact with water well at least not in my system it doesn't..Dan |
