Do cleaner shrimps eat pods?

basically, all i have in the tank is a cleaner shrimp and i am wondering if he will deplete my pod population (any kind of pod)? if so, i will consider feeding the tank. TIA

BTW, my tank is up and running again, with the addition of new LR, the algae problem has almost all disappeared.

Re: Do cleaner shrimps eat pods?

I have two cleaners in my tank and IMO they eat just about everything. I have watched them sticking their pinchers in the holes on live rock. I'm sure they were hunting pods.

Re: Do cleaner shrimps eat pods?

I'd spot feed my cleaner shrimp with freshly hatched brine shrimp.

If you have begun to add your clean-up crew, you should begin feeding the tank. The introduction of food begins the activity of other bacteria, too. See this for a suggested sequence of progressing the tank towards maturity, even if your ultimate goal is a reef:
