    WHo uses a rubbermaid sump?

Iam looking for a rubbermaid sump iam gonna be taking down the 25gallon reef and turning the 90 into a F.O. so iam setting back up the 46g bowfront as a reef once again.. Iam looking for a sump..is there anythign i need to know..I know there a PITA to partion I figure if i get a big enough one I can use a 10gallon tank inside for a refugium..Does it matter if the bottom of the rubbermaid is completely flat? I hear there supposeed to be I can care less if i need to change it out every few years..I saw a 50gallon rubbermaid at H.D. today..Thinking about that..Dan

Dan, I had considered it but when I really thought about the PITA the partions would be I went to a glass tank. I also suggest using glass partions in the tank cut to size. Its cheaper and stronger than plastics and easier to silicone, IMO.

I'm in the process of setting up a bigger tank. I'm using glass for the sump for reasons stated above. A rubbermade sump isn't a bad idea except for all the little bubbles going back into the tank. With glass, you can silicone in some baffles to eliminate this problem. However, i'm using a rubbermade container for my refugium. Good luck with your project.

I have three tanks with sumps and all three tanks are rubbermaid sumps. A 50, a 40 and a 20.

I also use them to hold make up water. Only had one leak once and it was the one used to hold makeup water. Had a tiny drip in a corner.
