Post 6 hour FREAKIN power outage tonight!!!

These NIMRODS that call themselves a power compnay have scheduled a power outage from 11PM to 5AM tonight! Guess I need to to break out the Coleman 5000watt generator. Haven't had to use it in over a year. Hope it fires up tonight. It's got an 8 hour gas tank. We'll need it. Got 3 tanks to wire up tonight. Wish us luck.

What the heck? I knew you guys where having some problems but geez that sucks.. I wonder if you would have a law suit against them if you lost some corals.

We get our power from Sierra Pacific. The company is out of Nevada. This is for power equipment upgrades and such.

Aragorn,
Thanks for the help last night getting my link to work. When we had the ice storm we wired our gen. into the outside breaker box. Much better than running extension cords everywhere,See if we have any electricians on the board to explain how to do it.Just be sure if you hook it up this way that the main switch to the power pole is OFF,or it could backfeed and injure a lineman working on the lines.

Petpoor,
Yes, we contacted Sierra Pacific. We were instructed specifically NOT to do that because of possible electrocution of their employess(they'll be working directly in contact w/ copper). I've got everything set to go. I've never had to run the generator for such an extended length of time w/out supervision(I may not get much sleep tonight).
Wgscott,
Funny toon, but this power outage has nothing to do w/ the rolling blackouts in the main parts of CA. Remember, we get our power from NV.

Well, it is only in the present climate that they would pull such a stunt. You are lucky you had the forsight to buy a generator.

Yeah this sucker can handle a 45 amp load and run for hours. I just hope I'll be able to sleep tonight.

Thanks. Tanks are doing fine w/ the exception of the bout w/ brooklynella in the 135g I've only got corals and inverts in there right now. Gonna be "lights out" in about 1/2 hour. See ya'll on the other side

Leo's looking great! Still not eating, but he was quite fat before he became ill. So, if he begins eating soon, he'll make it. Thanks Dan.

my companies headquarters is in Napa Valley and a few weekends ago they had "scheduled maintanance" and so the power was done for awhile on a Sunday - well even though everything was unplugged (servers, computer etc) our dam phone system took a spike and knocked it out... - took about 1 1/2 days before they had it up and running again.

Ah - the beauty of Michigan.....gotta love it....
