algee grouth

hia guys and girls just signed up last night to this vey useful site after spending a few night brousing.

just a little q if any one can give me some info ,iv just started a small starter saltwater tank approx 2 feet long only small i know but it just tempory until i get into the swing of things, good routine in practice and maitanance ,ETC.my tanks bin up and running for 6 weeks now.First off i added some eco friendly live rock. 2-3 in of fine substrate and left for a week or so.adding small amounts of food every other day ,as my instuctons said .Now to the point long grouth ofgreen hair algee started to grow on the rocks which looked allfull .
Gradlaly the grouth started to slow down after about 1 week.

the light has been on for around 10 hours H-O Fluresant visi-lux sun t36watt bulb .I noticed lots of brown algee all over the sand lots ,i did stirr up the sand abit
this seemed to makes thing look a little better ,this happened over a period of about 2 weeks i repeatd the same as above

ANY way week 3-4 this did start to slow and now it appears i have no grouth at all brown or green. my question is is this a good sign or a bad sign .

FOWLR= Fish Only With Live Rock.

since your adding corals you will be setting up a reef tank, clearly

So far as iodode and strodium i think just biweekly water changes will keep up whit that.
But as for calcium, its not quite the whole picture corals need more than just calcium to grow and be healthy.
This may help

provided you have no livestock (i.e fish, shrimp etc...) in the tank then i would simply wate and test again in a week.
is it possible for you to post a pic of your tank?

cheers james
