Re: Spectrum shift of the MH bulb
Gene, those look very nice! Are those bulbs on Sanjay's rating site yet? I am limited due to my ballasts, most SE bulbs do not due well on my IceCap electronic ballasts. (PAR values anyway.)
I like the looks of yours for sure! |

I'm not sure if those are been tested by Sanjay, however, I think they would performed nicely powered by the IceCap ballasts. If anything, my HQI ballasts seem to overdrive all of the bulbs hence making them loose their intensity quicker. At least it seems that way to me and that is the reason I always exchanged bulbs after only 6 or 7 month of usage. I started with 9 month and progressed to 6 month with the last set where the spectrum had shifted towards red considerably. I tried this Megachromes next to the Coralvue 10K and I couldn't really make out the difference with unaided eye, it is that clean white looking with a slight hint of blue. The corals seem to responded favorably as well, at least most of them did. Some are still in shock from being subjected to the Coralvue's... ![]()
