What the hell is this?

hey everyone i have had this a few times in both my tanks but never been able to get a good pic of it but have now so what is it?
my best guess is snail eggs...but what do i know

It's Cerith snail eggs. They lay their egg strands at night. They usually start a couple of hours after the lights go out.

The eggs will become swimming larvae, assuming they aren't eaten first. Once the larvae have developed to the point that they are ready to settle, they will need the correct cue to trigger settlement. Then they will have to survive metamorphosis.

The odds of this happening successfully in a typical reef aquarium are virtually zero.
