No more Yardright, what sand now?

We seem to be beating this topic to death lately, but this is hopefully where it ends for me. I've been to, called or e-mailed dozens of places looking for Yardright(aka Oldcastle) aragonite sand with no luck. Another thread said that Oldcastle no longer distributes the sand and that they can no longer "mine" this sand so I'm going another direction. I'm going to give in and pay the extortionist price and buy from the lfs or one of the Reefland sponsors.

The question is what sand should I get for a 3-4" DSB keeping in mind I have a blue dot jawfish. I was considering Aragamax sugar fine sand with a grain size of .1-1.0mm. That brings up the next question of how much is needed for 36"Lx18"Dx4"H?

Thanks

Rob

That sand will be fine. You can also look at teh ESV Oolitic sand, or the various Carib-Sea sands. I think you will be able to get away with 100lbs of sand for a good deep sand bed.
