Exclamation No R/O, what do i do?

Went to my LFS today to get some more R/O as im out, and they dont have any and may not untill monday!!!
    what do i do?
i have no other way of getting water, no where auond me does "drinking water" or anything my only other option is to use tap water, but we all know the risks involved with that!!!

i got some resin that absorbs nitrates, nitrites, and phosphats i can also run some carbon, in a bucket of tap water what do you think?

my tank is about 200lt and i get 3-6lt evap a day!

    so do i:

    1) dont top up and wate untill i get some more R/O

    2) run some carbon and resin in a bucket of tap water and use that to top up

    thanks james

    James,

Do any drug stores or supermarkets sell distilled water in UK? You can probably get by with about 2-3 gallon jugs for the weekend. I wouldn't use tap if at all possible. Also, do you have a reef club in the area? Perhaps someone has an RO/DI unit and would be willing to share couple of gallons?
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

not sure if this will help you james - but i have used "britta" filtered water in the past. i am not even sure if this is any better than using water right out of the tap - but i have used it as top off water on a few occasions without any issues. anyone else every do that - or know if britta water is any better than tap water for aquariums?

I think brittas just de-chrolnate the water, not to sure though.

The problem and it can be a big one are phosphates but are not limited to just them. They are extremely high in my area and without an RO/DI I'd have big problems. Dechlorinating the water is only one step in the process of making it acceptable for marine aquarium use.

I have one of those filters that makes tap safe for aquarium use. Is green when new and makes about ten gallons an hour and slowly turns bluegreen when expended, works great I use it for top offs only and use commerically produced real ocean water otherwise and monitor parameters.

well it dont matter to much now as im selling up cause im off to uni in sept and dad cant look after the tank, which is fair enuf as he (unlike me) has a life outside of fish keeping.

But i am getting a 12gal nano to keep my percs in!
this is the coolest little setup ever, it comes with built in 2x18w PCs, protein skimmer and UV filter! all for £140.
