Bubble on live rock
For the past 2-week 1 see a lot of bubble on my live rock and the rock turn brown in color. Is this bad new for my tank? The bubble mostly on the middle and back of the tank at the top layer and also at the back glass, in the front I don’t see any bubble. Is this bubble to show that the starting point symptom of bubble algae. I do water change 20% every month.

Re: Bubble on live rock
Do you by chance has sand as your substrate? I ask because alot of times i will see these tiny bubbles come out of my sand and get stuck on my LR, just a thought. I am sure it is nothing to be alarmed by.

Yes, it about 4” deep. But this bubble it always with thick slimy brown. To be more precise, once the bubble start to appear at the rock the slimy brown will start to appear and it become thick, when I rub it loose from the rock with bubble and floating around.

I get the same thing in my tank. But have you also noticed it disapears after the tank lights are off?... In the morning, all my bubbles are gone, buy late in mid day they start appearing again. Curious to see what the pros say, but I was assuming it was the nitrogen bubbles caused from the denitrifying bacteria in the sand beds. But, why mine only happens only when the lights are on, hummm... I might have to rethink my asumption. If I remember, denitrification needs dark. Again, curious to see what the pros have to say |

Re: Bubble on live rock
A lot of the time increasing the circulation in the tank can help clear up your problem.

Re: Bubble on live rock
It sounds like air bubbles getting trapped under a layer of diatom. How old is the tank?
