Flame Angel
I have a Flame Angel who has been torturing my crocea clam for about a month now! The clam is only 1/4 open now and is not to happy about being eaten. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get the flame angel out! He is way to quick to be lured up to the surface by food and then netted in and sleeps behind the LR in a cave so I can't reach him at night. I was thinking about one of those traps but I have 3 other fish that could potentially be caught instead! Any suggestions? Trapping ideas?

Re: Flame Angel
Do you have a QT tank? If yes, just trap all the fish, move them to QT, and then put the others back in the display. Otherwise, patience, patience patience.

Re: Flame Angel
That is horrible, sorry that your Flame is picking at your clam. Unfortunately, there is no quick solution. The least labor intensive solution it to try to get the fish used to feeding at the surface, and working to trap them during this time. Alternatively, a commercial fish trap, and returning any of the desired fish that fall for the bait.

Re: Flame Angel
I fish them out with a #22 hook with the barb removed and a piece of freeze dried plankton presoaked to soften it. It takes less than 10 min. to catch most fish. They are eating again a few hours later.
Regards, Kevin

Re: Flame Angel
For now I would try to find something to cover your clam with so the angel can't get at it. Like those green containers strawberrys use to come in. Or make one of your own with gutter guard maybe.
Good Luck. |
