Surely someone has some knowledge on the species?

Napoleon,
A Galaxea and Flower Pot are two different things. Please further describe the coral. If it has long polyps that extend out, and one each end there are 24 tentacles, then it is a goniopora(flower pot). I have three of them in my 25 gallon. With goniopora, they should be placed on the sand bed since they are found in lagoon flats. Not many people have had luck with this species of coral, not to make your decision sound bad. Mine is doing good, so far. REgards, Ilham |

If it's Goniopora, I've got a little info on my site. Here's the link. HTH http://www.tahoereefs.com/Goniopora%201.htm

if it has short tentacles all over it ,it is a galaxia.it will also have long sweeper tentacles it lets out in the current.they are usualy a darkbrown or blackish color with light tips.i have one and it is doing great!i keep it in the top third of my tank in strong current.but be aware!the are very aggresive and are usualy founf by themselves because of it!so keep it away from others!

I am pretty sure its a flower pot. It is almost turquoise in color and very vibrant. I have moved it into stronger current and it seems to appreicate (sp?) it. I'll try to take a pic a little later and post it.
