Re: Thank you Gene

Aren't they beautiful????? I cannot believe the color. A buddy of mine has told me that he wanted a deep purple cap. I sent him these pics. About 5 minutes later he called me.

Haven't tried that yet. When they get a little bit better acclimated, I think I will give that a go. Thanx

Whatever you want to call it, I just call it a purple M. capricornis.

Re: Thank you Gene

I don't even know what "idaho grape" represents but if it helps any, I got this as a frag few years ago from a fellow reefer from Ohio in a trade.
I even doubt it is a true M.capricornis, so I actually call it plating Montipora, purple morph.

Re: Thank you Gene

I definately didn;t get it from Eric, I would've said so if I did.

I remember getting this piece in a trade with a fellow from Ohio some years ago, if my memory is not decieving me( which is very much possible... )

The coral on Eric's site is identical to mine, I think, but I doubt it is identical in lineage.

Here's an image from 04, not a very good focus on the coral in question because I was taking picture of the Porites, actually, but you get the idea.

and one more.

Re: Thank you Gene

That is a SWEET FRAG! Gene rocks! I still have a HUGE colony of that purple Rim cap that is in the second pic above, it came from Gene too! So did my A. Yongei that I killed... and a red Milli that didn't make the trip from New Jersey... I still need to return the favor!
