Tokota liverock
I got another 20 lbs of live rock today and it looks really nice! Anyways the reason for this post is, they called it Tokota rock and it's supposed to the lightest rock available, was he just pulling my chain or is this true?
Also I put it in QT since I have to wait for the new tank to arrive and about 20 minutes after being put in, there were dozens of little cottony looking bugs (looked a bit like a q-tip) all over the tank walls. Are these ok?

Re: Tokota liverock
No idea what the white bugs are, but you ought to be commended for putting it in QT.
I haven't heard of Tokota LR before this. Does Walt Smith have a daughter named Tokota? That is how Kaelini rock got it's name!! |

Re: Tokota liverock
Hi Louise
![]() I found a few pics on the net of this new type of rock and it looks very similar to buna spiney LR which I had some buna and some kaelini and the buna was some of the most lightest/porous rock I have seen so yes it would tend to be a fairly true statement IMO. Im almost sure it comes from Walt Smith as Charlie stated. Got any pics of your tokota rock Louise?

Re: Tokota liverock
The rock in that link looks much different than the Buna Spiney (the rock in the picture you posted). The Buna Spiney (rock in the picture you posted) wasn't the most colorful rock in my experience.

Yeah, but I bet it will color up with some TLC. When I purchase rock, I don't really care if it has really great color right off the get go. Maybe that would be because I know I can seed it with other rock?????? |

Re: Tokota liverock
I've got about 20lbs of the same type of rock in my 30g and love it. Below is pic of what it looks like mixed in with other types.
