Do these guys nip at sps corals, or mainly lps and sofites?

I'd like to get one from reeftopia.com 27 bucks and only 5 bucks for a royal gramma?! That alone will pay for shipping, plus I like their gorganion selection

I asked the exact same question 2 weeks ago. I tried a flame anyway. Needless to say it lasted 4 days in my reef before it started to nip at my montipora. Luckily I caught it in 1 night using the feed into the net method. I wouldn't do it. I learned that my luck is if it 'might' nip it definitely does.

Good luck

I had the same experience. I would strongly recommend against it. I wasn't as lucky getting it out, I had to rip my entire tank apart to get the little creep. Against the previous owners wishes (was given to me after a tank cracked) I had to take it to the LFS.

Flame Angel

Any time you put an angel in a tank with stony's or clams you take the risk that they are going to nip on your corals. I have been fortunate that my flame, emperator, majestic and regal angels have never touched or gotten a taste for my sps, leathers or clams. I think for several reasons, I got them when they were Juveniles and have been feeding them well, I have fat fish...kind of like there owner.

Here is apic from the outdoor SPS tank at the waikiki aquarium. Note one of the inhabitants. Enough light and space no problem

I have a Flame in my system and yes it does nip corals. In saying this though, the only ones that have been damaged are Open Brains. Everything else has been unaffected. Every pygmy angel that I have owned has done this to a greater or lesser extent and in my experience they generally do no long term damage, apart the exception previously mentioned.
