How many people have flame angels that don't bother there clams?
I was thinking about getting a clam i have a flame angel so i am a little nervous. I know that each flame has there own personality but just wanted to get a rough idea on odds of a flame not picking at a clam. I have 8 other corals that my flame doesn't touch don't know if that would help.

It is a bit of a hit and miss, but if you have corals with no problems then I wouldn't hesitate to try a clam out.

I had a flame in my 80 gallon that never took one look at the mantles on the crocea that was in there. It did pick at the shell tho, but I didn't consider that harmful to the clam.

Re: How many people have flame angels that don't bother there clams?
I had a flame angel with five clams in a 120-gal tank and he ignored them. This species (Centropyge loriculus) is "iffy" in a reef tank. If you check the boards, you will find that many, many reefkeepers keep this species without major problems but others have reported problems that were serious enough that they had to remove the fish.
I have kept C. loriculus and C. bispinosa without any problems at all but that doesn't mean much. I would be willing to try both of those species in a reef tank. P.S. -- I forgot to mention that I fed my tank at least three times a day because of my fairy wrasses.

I agree with Ninong. Some will have problem other will not. I keep one without problem in my tank (lots of clams and SPS, few LPS)
