Algae Question
I have had my tank up and running now for 4 months, i have two true percs in it. My only problem is, is that i have a red / brown algae that covers my sand. I do regular water changes and all my nitrate & nitrite levels are zero. I only run my light for about 5 hours a day and it still hasn't seemed to go. Will it eventually disappear or will it always be there. It just makes my tank look dirty even though my water is crystal clear.

Re: Algae Question
Do a search here for cyanobacteria or diatoms....both are normal for newer tanks and will receed with time.

Re: Algae Question
I agree, normal for newly established systems. It will pass with time, all part of the process. Just keep up with good husbandry practices, and it will be fine in time. Good luck with your new system.

Re: Algae Question
But then 3 years of the tank being set up you can get it again driving you nuts, only for it to go away.
