So this tank has been running for 1 month now, and the parameters couldnt be more perfect. So i guess its fully cycled now. Over 100 pounds live rock, 3 inch live sand bed, coral life 4 96w lights with 4 lunar moon lights, over flow box.
I made the filtration system myself. The water pours into the over flow box, down into a 125 del rey wet dry, only 3 inches of bio balls witch i will remove slowly, then i drilled a 2 inch hole and pvc piped it where it flows into my refugium, thats where the chamber is for the 125 coral life skimmer is, then into the rest if the refugium.
the alge plants in the refgium are growing great.
I wasnt sure of if this system would work, but so far it has proven to be fantastic. I love doing things with my own twist on them. i did as much DIY as i could. alot cheaper that way, besides, you take more pride in what you have invented.
so i have a flower pot, green bubble tip anenome, and a long tentacle anenome, ( no thwy do not bother eachother at all) 1 huge slug, (forgot the name) but he is GREAT at cleaning the algea, 8 green chromis, and 2 true percula's. still waiting and hoping they find the bubble tip anenome.
oh yeah i almost forgot, i built my own closed loop system, powered by a 1270 coral life circulation pump, it works so good, the 2 water returns from that, and the return from the sump, creates the best clashing wave current. i will be adding more fish in time, just so happy to be where i am as of now with no water problems or leaks with all my inventions.
here are some pics. enjoy.
