I really varies, can be anywhere from a second, to minutes. Some allow you to set the times on your own, I use a Red-Sea wavemaster which has different settings, I am happy with it.

For those that use wavemakers. On average....how long would you say each powerhead is on? 5 seconds, 5 minutes, what??????
Thanx!

Perry....thanx a lot for your reply! The reason I ask is because I got this lighting relay from a friend. It is made to turn lights, like for a band, on and off in random order. He has been using one for a wavemaker for a while now and it works great! U can set the thing so it runs thru the 4 different channels rather quickly and sporadiclly. Each powerhead would be on like between 3 and 8 seconds. Is this too fast?

The MJ's are the usual flavor of choice. 1200's specificly.
If you have good water movement throughout...your Ok.
I might go for a bit more than 3 seconds if possible.
Even on the easy setting of my WM pro...the heads stay on longer than 3 seconds.
