Possible shipments to the UK
Does this site have any sponsers who can ship Zoas to the UK or is anyone aware of companies that do it - I have heard of few English guys who get unusual forms and colours from the states.
I assume that if corals are shipped from fiji etc to the states and Europe then it must be a possibilty - just can;t find any really colourful zoas in the UK at the moment Any ideas out there? |

Re: Possible shipments to the UK
I would really be surprised if you can find any American retailer who is willing to go through the paperwork required to ship livestock internationally. If you do, please post that information in this thread because it would be informative.
I know hard corals would be just about out of the question but maybe you're right about zoanthids??? I haven't heard of that before but if you find any U.S. firm that is willing to ship them, post back here.

Re: Possible shipments to the UK
I'm going to check a few U.S. livestock vendors' websites to see if I can find anyone who says anything about shipping abroad.
Here's what I found on Drs. Foster & Smith: Please Note: We cannot ship any aquarium life to Hawaii, APO addresses, Post Office Boxes, Puerto Rico, other U.S. Territories, or other countries. Here's what I found on Marine Depot Live: We can only ship within the contiguous United States, we cannot ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories or other Countries. Here's what I found on Dr. Mac's Pacific East Aquaculture: We only ship within the US, sorry we do not ship internationally. Here's what I found on Reefer Madness: We do NOT ship outside of the U.S., to U.S. territories, or to Hawaii. (The state of Hawaii will not allow the importation of invertebrates, live rock or live sand.)

Re: Possible shipments to the UK
I'll continue to do my research - but I guess customs and excise may have issues with livestock as you say.
Perhaps its one of those urban myths flying around - I'll try to find a couple of the threads where I heard it and look into it further - apparently zoas are dry shipped wrapped in damp paper and they survive - but again this could just be conjecture. I'll keep looking and if I find anything I'll post it here. regards PW |
