Remodel North Wing of Tank
I have been wanting to do this forever. The one large rock in my tank on the one side has been bugging me. I have been wanting to open up that end for more swim room and an open look.
Well today I finally tore into it. I started removing corals and placing them in my sump. Then I removed the one large rock on top loaded with SPS's. Well it would not be a fun event without breaking them up and that is what I did no matter how careful I was. So I put all the pieces aside so I could putty everything back together afterwards. This rock I wanted to put back as it sat on top of the big one plus another one. So once done I was going to get a swim through cave area. Well I then removed the LARGE rock that the Sixline is swimming around in the pics labeled front and back, the Pink Cuke is also next to it. This rock is from the river in New Braunfels and is extremely heavy. It had a green catspaw on it that I saved. I also saved a piece of the Fire Coral but let the rest stay for the new owner. Though I busted it all the way to the base getting the rock out. Once the rock was removed I put the piece in that was going to hold up the top piece. This rock and the smaller one came from my sump. It was buried somewhat so it is pretty white. I mounted a large barnacle piece to the side of it to help hold the top piece in place plus give me some SPS mounting places. The smaller piece from the sump went at the base of the upright piece to help hold it in place. I then started to remount all the corals. I let the brown hammer inbetween the Green Frogspawn and Green Hammer go with the new owner of the rock as well as numerous broken SPS pieces. It took me about 6 hours to do all this but I love the new look. it's more open now and the fishies have plenty more space to swim. It shouldn't take long for the white rock to color up nicely and blend in. Should be good to go about time the tank tours come around in a month or so. Now to get started on new pics for my website.
