    Raven, I do get the point. I think that FishMe should have made the decission and kept it private. This way noone would have asked and Fishme would have not had to undergo this abuse. You are correct though about what you have said.
    The last post of mine was not meant at anyone specific. The way it seems is that it was meant at Raven. I saw your post as soon as I hit the submit button. Was not meant for you.

    I will step in on the side of ............albee;) Spasse is right, but hindsight is 20/20. You did what you thought was right, you could not win no matter what you did. If you try to please everyone, noone will like it.

    FishME: I agree with Napoleans post. So ditto the comments.

    And Spasse, thank you for giving us those guidelines. They are very helpful in learning the correct way to protect our ecosystems and our hobby.

    Fishme - I think we all know your heart was in the right place.

    I hope no one regards my previous post as a flame, I'm just trying to explain my "argument". I apologize if I offended anyone.

    This should be a last resort. If the LFS's in your area are too bad to give it to them, them maybe a local fish keeper could take care of it. Post a thread here stating that you have to get rid of a fish and will give it to anyone who will pay shipping. Not only will you get offers, but you will get replies on how to ship it.

    The other points that you listed are good though.

    2 + 2 != 4

    Two is only loosely associated with two by a plus sign and therefore doesn't enter the equation at all since it is only there by mere complicity. We shouldn't count it and leave well enough alone.

    Hi All,

    Previously I posted:

    Maybe, we should even be chlorinating our discarded change water, especially those of us that live near coastal environments. I think I will run this up the flagpole with Dr. Ron.

    He posted the following response:

    So it seems that for most of us, this is not an issue.

    Does anyone know if there are any advantages or disadvantages to putting used tank water on your lawn or garden?

    If it would do my garden any good, I'll give it a try. Basically our soil here is sandy, rOckY, and very alkaline. I have a terrible time growing anything. Do you think a little nitrate rich pseudo-sea water would help?

    Bughead:

    I once dumped a load of tank water on my grass, and either the alkalinity or the high salt content caused the grass to turn brown for several weeks. Of course, that's grass up here on the tundra...

    Hopefully, your tank water isn't too nitrate-rich.

    Thanks,
    So far, I've gotten the 'trates down to 35ppm. Hopefully they'll keep going down, down,down.

    I think I have enough trouble with brown spots from a lawn fungus that's prevelant here. I guess I'll just continue to send used tank water down the toilet. ;;
