Does anyone have any invertebrates in their systems that spawn regularly? I am taking histotechnique and electron microscopy this semester and am working on an undergrad project dealing with marine invertebrate gametes, mainly sperm. As of now I have a few samples from Stomatella varia and Herpolitha limax. Both have been easy to get in my system but that's about all that I've seen. If I can ever catch it in time my Pocillopora damicornis has spawned and even produced a new young colony on the opposite side of the system but I have never seen it happen. The H. limax spawns sometimes monthly sometimes every other month usually around the 26'th.....this has been going on for about 8 months now and those samples have been easy to acquire. The S. varia.......I just got lucky one evening and happened to see it. It was neat...I noticed one broadcasting and then started to see more and more emerge from the rockwork and do the same. As I mentioned I'm looking for sperm but eggs could be of some use down the road. Fish sperm of any species could also come in handy although that's not the focus at this time. I will pay for shipping if anyone needs me to do so and will provide my address via pm if you can come through for me. Thank you.
