Question Mini Stars, is there such a thing as too many?

Last November I started my very first Marine aquarium and am so glad I did, I love my little slice of ocean heaven.

About two months ago I noticed alot of little white legs sticking out of crevices and holes, I thought they were worms until I saw those legs climb out with a body attached in the middle. I did some research and found that they are the small, white mini stars and are said to be a good thing.

Lately however, there's been a population explosion! There isnt' a crevice or small rock or any piece of matter that doesn't have these things in them. I would say I have well over 100+ of these little guys. Is there such a thing as too many? I have no idea where they hitch hiked in from, but they're taking over.

If you have the same species that I have...and I'm not sure what species that actually is but I consider them to be a good thing. They are most likely getting in all those little crevices and helping to keep your system clean.

I think they are perfectly fine in any number (unless of course you can't see in the tank).

lol Thank you, I wasn't sure if too many might be bad. It's amazing all the new little creatures I see emerge as my tank gets older.

Have you flash lighted your tank at night you will be amazed at all the goodies that will run and hide.
If the starfish become such a problem you can get a Harlequin shrimp and they will be gone.

Even better...get a military flashlight with a red lens. The red light doesn't seem to disturb the nocturnal animals like a white light does.

No I've never tried that, but I will now!
