How rare is this fish? Goldenback Triggerfish (Xanthicthys caeruleolineatus)
$1,200.00 . WOW. Does anyone have one. I was looking at reeftanksupply.com and came upon this fish. Is this trigger fish really that rare?

Compared to The Marine Center, that price looks like a steal!

It's only $1,199.99 at Drs. Foster & Smith.

Have any of you seen one b4? How cool would that be to let it eat silver sides out of hand. I just purchased a house and thinking about a big inwall tank. What size tank min would you say i would need for these trigger fish. If i do this im going to go all out, have it professionally built.(I love warranties and its gonna look alot better then if i were to do it lol.) Big debate to either go all reef which i want, or trigger fish, which she wants.

The Marine Center said 150, so I would go for a minimum of a 300gal.
Instead of paying $1,200.00 for Xanthichthys caeruleolineatus, how about $129.99 for Xanthichthys auromarginatus or even $399.99 for X. mento?

I love that little red fin on the X. mento. I have about a 25foot wall to play with with plenty of room behind it for equipment room. Maybee i should get a trigger tank for her and a reef tank for me on the same wallAt this rate I might as well sell my boat to pay for all this.lol There is nothing like seeing a school of triggers while scuba diving, an impressive site i must say. Thanks
what is your favorite fish of all time? Reef and or fish only

Ridiculous prices for all those triggers. I sell Xanthichthys auromarginatus (Bluejaw Triggers) for $39.99. They are really making some cash on that one. Female Crosshatch triggers are expensive and also not often available but they should sell for about $225.
I have found the members of Xanthichthys to be quite timid at first and reef safe. I don't know about a 12" version though as the other members are smaller at about 7" max.

If I ever spend that much on a fish, I hope someone blue-slips me.

that fish gets 12" or bigger...
Thats a large fish, 300 gal wont be enough and 150 surely wouldnt be. I guess it all depends on your individual morals.
Hmm... I think I like this one better:
