Question about My new toadstool
Me and My wife just bought a new toadstool coral, I take it thats its a soft coral, anyways I was curious if I could take it off the rock it came on, ( It came on a fake peice of rock and not live rock ). Could I take it off the fake peice of rock and place it in my tank on true fiji live rock?

Yes sir you can. You can take a Xacto against the bottom of the toadstool. It will be ok if you take a little flesh. If you can take the replacement rock out of you tank it would be great. You can use fishing line and sew it through the base and around the rock. It will attach with in a week or so. Or you can use tooth picks to attach it also. Poke the tooth picks in the side and use superglue to glue the tooth picks to the rock. Put in med flow and let it grow. Hope this helps.

Re: Question about My new toadstool
Fishing line or some heavy duty thread. and a sharp needle. Works fantastic. Actually the only way we do it.

Re: Question about My new toadstool
Make sure you remove it from the tank when you do this. I wouldn't frag a toadstool in the system if I didn't have to. I read on wetwebmedia one time in reference to a Sarcophyton sp. that they found out that there are actually 50 toxic chemicals that they produce. The boards are full of people making the mistake of fragging one in the system...or not rinsing one properly after fragging out of the tank and losing not only corals but fish. I'd run carbon for a while after fragging one regardless of how you do it.
