    Talking Starting another tank! again!

I've been away and really busy for the last few weeks but I managed to start my 24g Nanocube.
I got what I could get locally because I read about too many shipping horror stories. And getting anything into Canada shipping wise was crazy! I got one quote of $375.00 just to ship!
It's a JBJ and so far it's been up and running for about 2 weeks now, diatoms started about a week ago and I guess will be on the way out soon. I have 15 pounds of aragamax select and 25 pounds of Tonga "nui"
ReefSolution Magasin En Ligne: Live Rock -Tonga ''Nui''- (+30Lb)
which is pretty nice but was not totally cured cuz it smelled a bit farty!
all for now, I'll try to post a pic later on...

I guess I have it pretty bad!

I forgot to mention that I also have 5 pounds of tonga branch too.
As you can see by the pics, the brown crud is pretty bad right now but I know it shouldn't last too much longer.
I already have some peaceful corals lined up for it. I can't wait!!

It's a bad angle, I was trying to avoid glare
It's pretty open, I'll post better pics later when the lights go on. Either way there isn't a lot of flow with these tanks but that's what I'm aiming at for the livestock that will be going in.

After staring at the pic for a while, I see what you mean, there are some holes there. We can wait for more pics tho.

If you think this is still too tight let me know, it's not much of a problem moving them at this point in time.

    Re: Starting another tank! again!

I am gonna bet that one of those little Tunze nano streams would be perfect for behind the rockwork weez. It still does look a little tight to me. You are right tho, move stuff around now while you can, I bet you would have room for a couple of sticks of that branch in your other tank. Only time will tell, what do you think?

    Re: Starting another tank! again!

I agree with Charlie, you could probably stand removing few pieces, Louise.
As far as flow goes, depending on what species of corals you want to keep you may be just fine without any of the power heads.

    Good luck, Louise!

PS>I'm planning on setting up similar size tank for my condo since we've been relegated to live there full time this winter. Hopefully my daughter won't kill my other tanks while I'm gone...
    Kind regards,

    Gene.

    Re: Starting another tank! again!

So I re-placed the rock and it's much more open. As you can see the diatoms are going crazy! Is there a way of speeding up their demise or do I just let it run it's course? I put a bunch of macro in there but it probably won't help
I have tons of that stuff now so if it dies it won't matter much
    So watta ya think?

    Re: Starting another tank! again!

That looks alot better weez, are you sure you want to put that macro in there? If it catches hold, you will never get it out of there.

Just let things ride lady, you know darn well that if you try to hurry, it will bite you in the rear. Was this rock as cured as the stuff you atrted your 90 (?) with?

    Re: Starting another tank! again!

K, I'll get it out but I eventually have to put some kind of macro in there for my horsies I have about 5 different kinds right now and I'm hoping to put at least 2 of them in.
As I mentioned in the first post, it wasnted cured I could tell by the stinky smell that it had a ways to go.
I guess for the brown stuff, patience is a virtue!
I have all the corals lined up and waiting, I love this hobby!

Louise, if you have some chaeto, I think that would be OK to leave in there, it doesn't seem to attach to the rock, and it will do what you want it to!!!

Nobody around here has any chaeto, which is why I have all the weird macros

By the way is anyone here into seahorses?
I checked out Coralforum because they have a pony section but it's hard to get a straight answer cuz there's so much bickering about who's right and who's wrong

Well, you know, if you are only going to have horses in there, it may not be all that bad Louise. I am hoping someone else could chip in here. I think that if you kept up the harvest, you may be fine. The macro would be a good hiding place for pods.

I'm wondering if my seafan would be ok under the nano tank lighting, it would make a great hitching post, it's 72 watts of 50/50...

Shoot Kevin a PM, I know he stocks them in his store in Spokane. He may be able to give you some knowledge.
