My 54 Corner Build

Well...after 3 months I said the 24 Nano wouldnt be enough so here I am into a 54 Corner..

I know I enjoy pics and such so I figured it was my turn to contribute and be put on the chopping block

Some specs:
54 gl Corner w/overflow
10 gl Sump
ASM Mini G Skimmer w/ Gen X 2400
Seio 620 and a koralia 3

This is where the wife LET me put the tank (Dining room) If I knew the tank would be this QUIET with a sump I would have put it in the bedroom...the wife was even sold on the idea

35 Gl salt mix and about 20lbs LR from my 16

Stand is Pretty "stand"ard

Stand/Tank

Plumbing getting hooked up

10 Gallon Sump...no baffles.....yet

DYI Durso Overflow...Very Quiet

ASM Mini G Skimmer and sump..A little tight but doable

Skimmer just Turned on

5 Minutes later

Sunpod 150w 14k Bulb....Its a start...Only about 20lbs of rock

Skimmer about 30 minutes running...Gotta love it

Some more LR...Starting to clear up...

More LR coming...So far Parameters are great

Temp: 78.8
PH: 8.3
Ammomia: 0
Phosphates: 0
Nitrates: 0-10
Ca: 410

I doubt Ill have any cycle. the LS came with tank along with about 25 gallons of water or so...

About 2 hours later....

Lights off...Still need to get black felt for the sides....

I know this is small compared to most all of you folks but its a significant step up for this noob

Hope you enjoy...

Re: My 54 Corner Build

Russ,
First off the tank looks SWEET! Secondly, since the wife did say you had her sold on the quietness and that she would have let you put it in the BR then you need to take of advantage of that statement Bro! This means that you can have another tank in the bedroom now Alot of ppl starting to setup 54g corners.....they do have great appeal! Reefhead who is a member here on Reefland too had/has a nice 54g crnr, and there also is JTN who is a new member I believe as well who has a 54g crnr....Keep tabs w/these ppl it will help you learn new approaches and ideas to your tank....And dont worry bout the noob status man....that will dissipate quite quickly once you have been biten by the bug, which I believe you have Kudos man, and keep the pics a rollin for us!

Re: My 54 Corner Build

I took your advise Rocky and tried to sell the tank in the bedroom idea. It didn't go over very big. However, she did agree if I moved the 65 out of the living room I could get a second tank for the bedroom. I don't have any other easily viewed locations and just can't imagine watching TV and playing online poker without the tank next to me.

Oh, and the tank looks awesome Russ!!! It's giving me the itch for another.

Re: My 54 Corner Build

Ok some time has gone by...I added some "stuff" new anemone with hosting clowns and a custom refugium made by a LFS. The refugium the did awesome with considering I have a 54 corner and a 10 gallon sump under it...space was the issue...hope you like..

Russ

Lid to refugium and a top that slides that the coralife compacts sit on for heat purposes

Not filled yet..copepods added

New Clowns and Host

Finished shot with a bit more in thne tank than the original build shows...Canopy in the works...will take picks of that build..
