I think you have already answered the question yourself. Sounds like they are acclimating to your tank. I would give it a few weeks to see if the behavior changes; which I am sure it will.
I have two leather corals in my tank and I think they are confused or either I am. When I bought them, they had their "tenticles" extended and I love that about the leathers. So I come home everyday hoping to see that again and nothing. They are as smooth as a baby's bottom. However, after the lights go out, I check them out under the moon light and here come the "tenticles". What can I do to reverse this? They are less than a week old so it may change with time, but I am curious to know why they come out at night and all my other corals come out more in the light. Could it be too much light, too much/too little water flow? So who is confused, any thoughts?

Thanks. I will continue to wait them out. However, in regards to flow, there isn't much flow over them right now, should I put more flow on them? I have heard both strong flow and light flow.
It depends on the environment that they came from. Some leathers prefer a heavier flow and some like a lighter flow. I've never seen one that liked direct flow like an sps. When purchasing a coral make a mental note of the location in the system they plucked it from, water parameters and lighting. If it was happy there you can try to find a similar spot in your system. Of course everyones is different and any number of things could be causing it to not open up. Sometimes certain leathers will shrink up and look waxy for a few weeks and then "shed". Then all of a sudden will be open again, slightly larger and with better color.

Here is what it looks like right now while the lights are on. Everything look OK to you guys? You know a lot more than I do.
Thanks!

Dang! it is smooth!Ive never seen a leather like that before. But Im pretty sure that it is just acclimating like what everyone else says. why dont you post us a pic of it during the night when the polyp is extended?
Was going to post a photo of the polyps extended, but last night they didn't extend at all, even during the night. Checked the water quality and it is fine so I will just watch it for the next few days. I think it may be doing exactly what Samper mentioned. It does have a slight waxy appearance in spots. The tank it came from was not quite as bright as my tank so I am sure it has to acclimate to the new lighting conditions. I'llgive it some time and see how it does and post more later on it. Thanks for the adivce and tips.
