Debris Issue In 120G Tank... Any Advice Please

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and have only been keeping Marine for about 2 years so i am still learning!!!

My tank is looking great however i have a problem with debris and bits floating in the water. All my equipment is running correctly waterflow is extremely good skimmer and filter sock doing there job but still i cant get rid of the floating debris.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Sean,

Do you have any place in your system that you can add some filter floss? We run some in our tanks overflow about 2 days per week and it really helps to keep the water polishes and these fine particles out of the water column.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have room for Filter floss, i basically have a filter sock under the overflow which is pretty much the same thing. Its close weave so would pick up most debris but it simply isnt clearing the tank.

Its really frustrating as the tank looks stunning but it lets it down as it is, dont get me wrong i dont want a clincally clean tank, but as it is it looks like it isnt suppose to be like that.

You might try a wad of filter floss inside of the sock, where the most water would pass through it.
