The coral could be a cladiella sp.? Maybe a colt. But the coloration is much too pink for a colt. either the picture was altered, taken with a camera that distorts colors, or it is a different kind of soft coral. It also could be some dendropytha sp?. I'm sure I misspelled that.
Is this your coral? At a store?

Hi Kraken
![]() Im gonna say that your first pic is a Red Carnation....maybe Dendronephthy Sp. ? Not 100% though....and as far as the anemone I didnt see much on the pic but could there be a coral close to it that might be stinging the anemone maybe?

if it's a colt, you definitely need to frag that baby. should be easy, and colt's should grow fast.

i dont know how good of a lfs yours is but mine.....i'm amazed they know they have coral let alone know what type they have. i personally am willing to bet my bottom dollar that this is Dendonepthya sp. i am looking at Rob Fenners "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" and on page 329 is a picture darn near identical to yours....only difference is the color in the book is a perrywinkle not a red like yours. but in my mind this is the same thing just a different color.

I heard that they are dyeing some of the corals. And they are selling at
a very high price. Rick |

I've heard of that too but never seen it. Hopefully that's not the case here, but is sure is vibrant.
Is the rose anemone eating well? I think sometimes their tentacles look like that when they're not getting enough to eat. -Mike
